Direction

"I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination"

Directions. It can mean North, South, East, West. Physical directions. But in this case, directions means where you are heading, your destination.
At school at the moment, there is a lot of talk about what you want to do when you grow up, what subjects you want to choose for college...where you are heading. It's kind of overwhelming sometimes! And I think that a lot of people are pressured into making a decision that they don't want to, or haven't thought about.

I understand that it is really important to have some idea where you are headed. Where you want to go. Don't you think it is important to be able to see, plan, and work to be able to get to where you want to be?

But there is also the other side. What if you are so set on becoming one thing, and then something goes wrong? What is the job you want is no longer needed? What if you change? What if something better comes along? So it is also important to keep some options open,

It seems like there is a very fine tightrope to walk along. A thin balance between knowing where you are going and be able to change. And that's something I want to learn to balance. I think that it is super important, a valuable skill and something that I am not good at... yet!

This is where the quote for today comes in:
"I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination". I've printed this quote out and stuck it on my vision board. I am going to work really hard to know where I am going but keep my options open. I don't want to miss opportunities because I have a closed mind. I am going to work out where I want to be, where the current me wants to end up. And I am going to constantly re-evaluate where I want to be. I am going to find my direction, but not set the path in stone.

What are your thoughts? Do you need a direction?
