Photography - 1 OClock Waffles

"nothing brings people together better than good food"
Who loves lazy weekend days, nowhere to be, nothing to do?
I do!

Seems like the perfect time to make waffles - a lazy morning!

Food photography isn't something I have tried before, but as I was pulling out berries to cover and maple syrup to drown the waffles, I thought it would be a good time to experiment.

I haven't had much experience with food photography. I guess I have never had any reason to photograph my food until I made these delicious-looking waffles.

It was super fun to try and make the food as appealing on the camera as it was in real life. Taking photos of food meant I had to use different camera angles and editing techniques. It was a challenge - and an enjoyable one, much more fun than I was expecting.

When you take photos of food - it is vital to get the colour right. No one wants to see a photo of a blue waffle because you got the temperature wrong on the camera! I found it interesting to work with a subject that relies so much on colour. If I'm honest I might have had to fix a lot of my mistakes in editing! It is also important to consider background when taking photos of food. The colour of the plate needs to compliment the food. This was a challenge in my house because we have a rainbow of dinner plates.

Enjoy the photos below. You might want to grab some snacks before you look - the photos might make you hungry!

Autumn

If a year was tucked inside a clock, then autumn would be the magic hour."
- Victoria Erickson
It is now April, well over halfway into autumn, and we are finally starting to see the change in seasons. Crisp mornings, sunny days, golden leaves falling from the trees, the world is changing and we are witnessing it.
Autumn is a beautiful season, as they all are, there is something unique about it. The way that the usual green is replaced with countless shades of red, orange, yellow and brown.
Here are some photos that I believe capture autumn, enjoy.

Review// One of Us is Lying

"Books don't just go with you,
they take you where you've never been"
I know! Two review posts in a row!

Blurb

I finished One of Us is Lying this morning, and this is a book that has been on my to-read list for such a long time, I have to share my thoughts on it!

The book is about a set of teenagers: Brownyn, Nate, Cooper, Addy and Simon. They go into detention together one afternoon, and before the end of the detention, Simon is dead. When the police discover what killed Simon, Brownyn, Nate, Cooper and Addy all become suspects in a murder investigation.

The worlds of the four teenagers are flipped on their heads, as more incriminating evidence comes to light. But the police never seem to be able to find any concrete evidence, not enough to convict anyone of the murder.

All four teenagers are adamant they didn't kill Simon, but they all have a secret to protect, how far will they go to protect themselves? and which of them is lying?

Things I liked
- The mystery, I couldn't pick or guess what was going to happen at the end.
- Because there are so many characters, and the story alternates between the points of view of Brownyn, Nate, Copper and Addy, there is a character that will be relatable for most people - or even part of each character will be relatable.
-  The characters didn't feel like the stereotypes they were cast as - which is a refreshing change.
Things I didn't like
- The characters were switched so often, and there was so much to their individual stories, that it could be hard to keep up with the stories - and I found myself getting confused sometimes.
-The ending felt a bit rushed, I won't say much because I don't want to spoil the ending, but I think that the rest of the story was a fair bit more wound out, and the part that should have been the most detailed was perhaps the least.
-The story could, for some people, be seen as a bad representation of a mental illness, and could upset some people.
Overall, I enjoyed the story. It was addictive, and the storyline was interesting, and I wasn't disappointed that I had read the book. I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of mysteries, but not scary ones.
