The power of music

Music is a funny thing, don't you think? Ok, maybe not, but hear me out.
Don't you think it is amazing how listening to a certain song can bring back a thousand memories from years ago, and a different song can feel you with joy or sadness, what about that one song that makes you happy no matter what else is going on or how you were just feeling?

I don't play music, so I don't have a special connection to any songs like some people do (like the girl in the video below), but I still love listening to it. Sometimes it is the words that makes me like a song, sometimes it is the music. What about you?

Here is a video I have found, I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but the small part I did watch sounded really interesting and I hope that it adds to this post. I will definitely watch the rest later.
Enjoy...
What did you think?

In camping combined. easter holidays

Easter Camping

Over the Easter long weekend, we went camping in the snowy mountains. The two of us (plus our families) spent four days in a tiny town near Adaminaby. We both went to the Easter Fair together and had a great time.

things we accomplished (in an ironic and 100% joking way)
-talked to the boat guy about getting our boat licenses. Abi has never met anyone more interested in maritime and boaty things.
-ate a lot of chocolate. A lot of chocolate.
-Poppy took tons of photos.
-Abi listened to bad music.
-Abi had a steak sandwich from the Easter fair, which was food of the gods
Here are some photos from the weekend...

Which is your favourite?

In back love photography photos poppy's photos update

Recent Photography

Anyone who has been reading this blog for a while will know how much I love taking photos.
On my 'blogging break' I have had some time to experiment with some different kinds of photography and editing, and I can't wait to show you. These photos are just a few of my recent ones, plenty more on the way.  I also started a photography portfolio a few weeks ago, and hopefully I can share some pictures of it in the coming weeks. Let me know if that would be something you are interested in.

In 1 year 2017 back

A year of blogging

I'm back,
First up- I hope you understand how much Abi and I both love this blog, and do everything we can do make sure we are able to keep posting. In the last month, we have been through something that has made it impossible for us to continue posting and sharing on Laotong. What's been going on is  a story for another day, but the good news is that we should be back to normal now. Maybe posting once a week for the next few.

Anyway, today is a excitingish day because it is the one year anniversary of our (my) first blog post on laotong, which was then poppy and mop. For me, blogging is a way to share my ideas, thoughts and stories- it allows me to escape ‘everything’ and just be me. It is a place where I can be completely me, and no have to worry about what people will think of what I say. Ever since we started Laotong (or as it was then known, poppy and mop.) I have known that there is always a place for me to say anything, and it has been invaluable.

Sometimes, when it feels like I have nothing to say  I will just share some photos, and I love that I can do that. Here I feel under no pressure to achieve anything, I can write something or I can upload a few of my favourite photos. I could share a page long post about something I believe in, or a recipe that I love.

I love being free to share anything on Laotong, and reading your thoughts on what I have shared. In this year since I have started blogging I have learnt so much (just look at one of my first posts!), and I have slowly become more comfortable sharing anything and everything. I am unbelievably grateful for the day that our mum’s helped us sign up to blogger, nearly 7 years ago, and for the moment a year and a bit ago when Abi and I decided to take on this challenge, and create Laotong.

A lot of things I have read said that the first few months to a year of blogging are the hardest, and it hasn’t been easy- everything from endless researching to googling a vital piece of code-, but I have loved every minute.

Can’t wait to see what happens through the next year.

xxxPoppy
