School Supplies for the New Year

"Education is the most powerful weapon
which you can use to change the world"
-Nelson Mandela

In a week I will be heading back to school after the summer break, ready (hopefully) to start a new year. There are a lot of things that are exciting about starting a new school year; new teachers, new classes, that new elective, but the thing that I love most (I know, I'm crazy!) is shopping for school supplies.

Last Wednesday Abi and I went shopping to get all our books and stationery for the new school year. I think I might have finally worked out a system that will work! (We will have to wait and see though....). Here are the things we bought.
(I promise there are links, just click on the name of the item)

Aqua Drops Binder
I will use this binder for keeping track of all the sheets and assignments I get. I also got a set of dividers and folders to separate my classes.

Binder Paper
For subjects with only a few notes, and to re-write notes at exam time I bought this binder paper, which fits perfectly in the binder.

Pencil Case
I couldn't resist this pencil case (ok, make-up bag) when I walked past it. It fits my calculator, small ruler, pens, highlighters and eraser.

Books
I got this spiral bound grid book for maths. I always get spiral books because they fold over and you can fit so much more on the desk.

And these books for my other subjects. The four subject ones I plan to use for science and SOSE because they both have four units in them.

Laptop
My school has a laptop program and I am taking the new surface pro this year. I love this laptop because of the pen and the fact you can write and take notes on it like a book.
I really hope that I can stay organised and productive this year, and hopefully, all these supplies can help with that. In the next few weeks, I will share a post on how I used my laptop at school.
Have a great week.

Photo diary- Queensland 2018 part 2

"The ocean stirs the heat,
inspires the imagination
and brings eternal joy to the soul."
-Wyland
Last week I shared this post about the first half of my trip to Queensland at the start of the year.
During the second half of the trip, we spent a lot more time at the beach, visited the zoo, went to a Buddist retreat centre, and (of course) swam in the pool. Here is a photo diary of some of my favourite places.
Beach
It was very, very hot and the beach was the perfect place to cool off. Swimming, body surfing, boarding, jumping around in the waves- I did it all!

 Time to cool off
When it was too hot to do anything, we escaped up into the mountains, to an adorable town called Montville. The town had beautiful views, boutique shops and lots of ice-cream.

At the zoo
We braved the heat and spent a day at Australia Zoo. My favourite animal is red pandas, but the only red panda the zoo has was too shy for photos.

Chenrezig Buddist Center
We went to the Chenrezig Buddist centre for lunch on a rainy Friday, and it was amazing! The food was beautiful and the Garden of Enlightenment stunning.

Don't you think it is amazing how within a 40 -minute drive there are such different environments? All these different locations really tested my photography skills, and I loved every minute.
Have a great week

Bucket List

I really like the idea of having a list of things you want to do, I think it will really encourage me when day to day life gets a but boring or repetitive.

I have had a mental bucket list for a long time now, and I decided that it was probably time for me to actually write one down so that I can start ticking things off!

I am planning to create a page in my bullet journal for this as well, so that I can have an everyday reminder of the things I want to do!

Queensland 2018 Part 1

After Christmas, I flew to the Sunshine Coast, in Queensland, to spent time with some family. I had an amazing holiday, lazying away the hottest days of the summer in the pool and at the beach. I can't wait to share some photos from the trip with you!

Sun and Sand (Time at the beach)
No trip to the coast would be complete without a trip to the beach, and I sure spent a lot of time there. It is so peaceful, in the early morning and late afternoon. Just floating.

I also went out on a boat, which was amazing, lots of beautiful views and swimming.

Palm Leaves
Another icon around the beach, palm trees.

Woodford Folk Festival, NYE
On New Year's Eve, I spent the afternoon at the Woodford Folk Festival, which was a lot of fun. One of my favourite things was a letter service they had, you could go and write a letter to a stranger and it would be delivered through the day.

Markets
I love going to markets, there are so many beautiful things to buy. This time I got a beautiful hand painted rock and a hand-lettered poster.

Beautiful Views
The ocean is so peaceful and beautiful, especially with the sun shining on it.

Ways To Remember Your Travels

"The world is a book,
and those who don't travel read only a page."

I love travelling, and I always want to remember every moment of my holidays. Every amazing experience, every beautiful view. There are a few different ways I remember my holidays, that I want to share with you today.
 1.Photo flip books
You can make these online or hardcopy, and they are just a series of photos, it is a great way to keep all your photos together.

2. Travel journals
While I am on holiday I keep a journal of the things we did, and what I enjoyed and the food I loved. Sometimes it is just a simple book, sometimes I use a pre-created travel journal.
3.Scrapbooks
I love making scrapbooks to preserve my memories of our holidays, and they kind of combine both of the first two ways. I use digital templates, and then get them printed as hardcover books. Most of the pages are a combination of words and pictures. Sometimes I scan tickets and include them as well.

"Fill your life with experiences,
not things,
Have stories to tell,
not stuff to show."
